Dating sites rant
When you’re a kid – especially an adolescent or teenager, you don’t want to be different. Being the center of attention because you’re vivacious and popular is an entirely different thing. When you’re tall, you feel that everything you do is more obvious. If this mentality pervades our decisionmaking in so many realms, is it also affecting how we choose a romantic partner? The question nagged at me—not least because of my own experiences watching promising relationships peter out over text message—so I set out on a mission. He quickly deduced that she was the appropriate height (finally! First I texted four friends who travel and eat out a lot and whose judgment I trust. Finally I made my selection: Il Corvo, an Italian place that sounded amazing. (It only served lunch.) At that point I had run out of time because I had a show to do, so I ended up making a peanut-butter-and-banana sandwich on the bus.I checked the website Eater for its Heat Map, which includes new, tasty restaurants in the city. The stunning fact remained: it was quicker for my dad to find a wife than it is for me to decide where to eat dinner.Amanda Bradford just launched a dating app called The League, which is designed to be used by beautiful, ambitious, intelligent people — you know who you are! So Bradford posted a comment under Ng's post and informed Ng that he is a douchebag and that her data scientist will use their algorithm to filter him out and now he would never get at any of those elite ladies on The League. Ng responded by pointing out how ridiculous it was for a CEO to be investing so much time and effort into responding to a silly little wisecrack about her app's lousy marketing, while adding that he grew up on food stamps, put himself through Carnegie Mellon with loans and scholarships, and is in a happy relationship with a wonderful dude, but thanks for making sure none of those elite women on The League will stumble across him!
PS: yes, I do realize that this is all great publicity for The League, and I half suspect that the whole Victor Ng thing was a stunt organized in order to help this sad little dating app rise up out of the noisy crowd of dating apps.
Some people think I might be too picky about my height requirement; even my daughter who is my height has asked me about it. It’s time to dissect this issue while enjoying some tall salad.
I love being tall now but it wasn’t always that way.
One site that I’ve been on for a number of years caters to people that are into ethical non-monogamy (as in, having an open or flexible relationship where you openly communicate with your life partner and you are both aware of the sexual and/or emotional relationships that you each have outside of your relationship.
The kinds of sites I’ve used range from innocent “friend finder” type sites for people looking to just date to adult-oriented sites for people just looking to get laid to BDSM sites for people looking for . .well, it’s a bit too complex to explain here without oversimplifying it.
